Two Smiles

I was greeted with two smiles today

On my walk to wash away the rain

And drown it with a cherry

The first was from a peach

Fuzzy furs encompassing

the round orange glow

of sincerity and youthful innocence

Yet sureness of maturity

I left as it wasn’t my destination,

Although I as hesitant to do so –

Curious as to the juicy goodness

that would be under a nibble

a few trots further,

I received a second –

From a slick surfaced bright lemon,

its radiance fit for sunglasses

So joyful and unbothered by the drizzle,

It made me want to pierce its slippery surface

And make lemonade

Sweet as sugar

My tasty encounters ripened

as I came upon a duck

Whose jubilant paddles brought prolific life

to the tears of sustenance

gifted from heaven
